Civil Litigation

Resolving conflicts. Reducing anxiety.

Civil Litigation is the resolution of conflict between two parties. Sometimes this means going to court or a tribunal, but in many cases conflict can be resolved to the satisfaction of all parties by negotiation or other out-of-court measures. While we have presented cases to the Ontario Divisional Court, the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Landlord and Tenant Tribunal, the Ontario Municipal Board, and the board of education in Ottawa, our primary concern is to bring the matter to the most efficient, effective conclusion for clients.

Civil litigation in Ontario can include things like:

  • Commercial disputes
  • Contract disputes
  • Construction disputes and liens
  • Wrongful dismissal
  • Debt collection
  • Mortgage remedies
  • Property disputes
  • Landlord and tenant-related disputes
  • Estate litigation
  • Shareholder disputes

We have more than 15 years of experience pursuing suits against people and organizations on behalf of clients and defending clients when they are sued.

However, in many cases, early intervention can go a long way to avoiding costly and time-consuming lawsuits. The majority of our cases are resolved long before a trial becomes necessary – and with better results for clients.  Engaging a lawyer to review contracts or agreements, or arranging a consultation before a possible civil action escalates, could be the best legal investment you can make.
